Last day for Christmas orders

This Friday the 14th will be the last day we will be able to accept orders to have back in time for Christmas.
All orders placed on the or before the 14th can be picked up the following Thursday the 20th.
We will extend hours on Thursday to accommodate later pickup if you need to come over after work.
We have enjoyed being able to work with so many of you this season and hope to see you all again (soon) in the new year.
Merry Christmas

Snow Days

We are going to be doing "Snow Days Sessions" this winter, we did our first one last week. Yes, with our boys! We will be using this as the add for the sessions. Call us for more info!

a little lamp light (simplicity)

Having a studio with many lighting option is great. Some images can only be created with various lights in different positions. Do great images need to have 8 lights and a backdrop? No.
One evening we finished a shoot and went to Desiree's folks to pick up the boys and I wanted to take a few pictures to test one of my cameras ( I was having some issues earlier that day).
I had only a lamp with a shade for a light, thats all one really needs. I tipped the shade to let more light fall across Kimball's face. Metered between the shadow and highlight and clicked the shutter. pretty simple, pretty straight forward.
Great images can really be created almost anywhere, with the right equipment, the right subject and the right state of mind... anything is possible.

Image info: ISO 1600, F1.8, 1/1000, 50mm, available light; lamp/75 watt bulb

the warrior (revisited)

Many site show many images of the photographers children and it has always been something I have looked down at. Lately, however, our boys have been spending a lot of time in the studio. While there we take time photographing them. Last week the boys found the camo makeup and wanted to do a shoot. We did many images that I am working on adding to a composite.
After having so many images of the boys and some that we really like, we felt it wrong not to put them on line... so don't be surprised if you start seeing many more!!

Long time family friends

Ten years ago when Desiree and I were married the father of one of Desiree's best friends (a photographer from a small town on the eastern Colorado plains) photographed our wedding reception here in ABQ. Four years after that we were able to return the favor and photograph and photograph the wedding of Desiree's friend Tera. (whose maternity session and upcoming baby pictures we are excited to photograph) and then Tera's brother a few years after that.
While in town for thanksgiving, the Critchfield family took some time to come see us and we had the privilege, at that time, of doing a small session for the two of them.
It's amazing how things not only come full circle but continue to spiral upwards. \
Rusty and Julena, it has been our pleasure to call you friends over the last 10 + years and we thank you for that. You are two great people and we look forward to the next time we can get together. And Julena, I am always happy to send you any photoshop help you need!!

A long time coming

I have often told Tera that my kids would be old enough to babysit before she and Troy had babies. Finally after waiting six years, Tera & Troy are expecting their first baby. In February their little girl will be here. We are excited that this time is almost here, and now we are anxiously awaiting her arrival.

The Speers/Smith/Jones/Magers group

On Thanksgiving, much like many of you, our family got together to eat, play football, and share each others company. This is our family, four generations each unique and yet, still the same! We have never done a family photograph with everybody so we figured it was time.
