From 1997 thru 2009 and to Infinity

The Beginning

Jared and I met in 1997 in Edgewood when we were both 12 years old attending the same small community church. We flirted at Friday night youth events the way that all teenagers do- by being mean to each other. Eventually Jared and I discovered we actually made very good friends and enjoyed each other’s company without relentless teasing. This new “platonic” relationship suited us very well for several years even though we both liked each other and both knew it.

The Middle

By 2003, Jared and I had begun unofficially dating. We were 16 years old and both very involved in the same youth group where we first met. It was then that I moved away. In July of 2003 my parents and I moved to Atlanta, GA- 34 hours in the car, 4 hours and about $600.00 by plane, and 2 hours ahead over the phone from one another. We stayed together the whole time I was away. In the span of 4 years we graduated from High School and started college, had jobs, and went on mission trips together. Jared became the youth pastor for the same church where we met and we talked everyday. In July 2007, after 4 years of dating, countless hours over the phone, and thousands of dollars spent on plane tickets, I moved to back to New Mexico.

The New Beginning

For the last 2 years Jared and I have been made even surer of our love and loyalty to one another. There is no doubt in either of our minds that we are our absolute best together. We have moved from crush to friendship and from friendship to consuming love. Jared proposed on Sandia Mountain in the same place he took me for our first date and the same place we went when we first kissed. We are going to be married on July 31^st, a Friday night, by our former youth pastor in view of Sandia in the town where our relationship began, was nurtured, and has taken root.
